A Quick Look Back
Pamela Meredith Hamilton, Founder of The Hamilton Exchange
Dr. Ashley Elliott is a native Washingtonian and considers herself to be a positive product of her urban environment. First-hand family exposure to the impact that substance abuse, mental illness, interpersonal violence, and sexual trauma can have on an individual, family, and community, made Dr. Elliott passionate about empowering others and working to change lives. From a young age, she was intent on pursuing a career that would strengthen her community and enlighten the under-served and often overlooked.
While receiving her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, she started Vivid Innovations Consulting, LLC. Vivid Innovations is a one-woman business that offers mental health consultation, lifestyle consultation, assessment, and seminar/lecture opportunities to schools and businesses. She also operates as a motivational speaker and author, working to empower visions and promote positive well-being. Her clinical interests include community mental health, client psycho-education/health education, substance abuse treatment, group therapy, severe mental illness, & the integration of non-traditional & artistic expression in therapy.
Dr. Elliott has worked with children, adults, and adolescents from various multicultural backgrounds. She also has clinical experience in inpatient mental health, community mental health, and school settings in the DC Metropolitan Area. In 2015, Dr. Elliott launched Innovator Academy and Vivid Kids. These are youth programs offered free of charge to the youth in the Washington DC area. Innovator Academy (Youth ages 12-17) and Vivid Kids (3-11) focus on college/career preparation, building a positive self-image/identity, developing emotional awareness, and creating a positive space to celebrate creativity and individual differences.
In November 2017, she released her first book, In My Safe Space, which is a collection of therapeutic writings aimed at normalizing vulnerability and discussing mental, spiritual, and emotional health. Dr. Elliott has also launched Nights at the Roundtable, which is a monthly event for creatives and professionals of color that focuses on creating a strong sense of support, community, and personal and professional growth.
“I just want to encourage, enlighten, and empower the masses via mental health awareness and motivating messages. My mission is for everyone I encounter to strive to be well mentally, physically, emotionally & spiritually.” – Dr. Ashley Elliott

Artaga Carey, is a graduate of Liberty University with a vested interest in forensic psychology, advocacy, and resiliency. Her journey in advocacy began when she experienced intimate partner violence. After overcoming her painful circumstances and surviving domestic violence Artaga’ s real work began. It was important to her as a survivor to help others who have experienced similar trauma but may not know how to seek help. So, she became a CASA volunteer. She was a part of the 2019 cohort conducted by UPENN for working to end violence and abuse in relationships. Her experience gained as a CASA volunteer fueled her desire to work with other vulnerable demographics like veterans who suffer from PTSD and other mental health issues. All of Artaga's collective experiences lead her into becoming a peer recovery specialist and attending college to earn a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology.
Artaga Carey is a proud mother of two brilliant angels, with a growing tribe of others who refuse to let her wavier. Nor will she stop championing for those let fortunate. To contact Artaga Carey, email her at artagacarey@outlook.com
