Thank you to my three beautiful daughters, for without you the task of raising another child would have been nearly impossible. You are all beautiful role models to a little person who loves you all dearly. You all added an enormous beauty to this story. I will never forget the donation of your time, energy, resources, and loss of my semi-undivided attention. I am eternally grateful for your love and support.

We all know the side effects of secondhand smoke. We've all seen the surgeon general’s warning. Oddly enough we sometimes suffer not because of anything we have done on our own; it’s the stuff handed down by default that threatens to destroy us.
~ Secondhand Smoke, page 6
Secondhand Smoke is a call to action for its reader. I wrote this memoir with the hope that more people would be inspired to live and walk in their truths. The one thing that I have learned about myself through this journey is that my brokenness, the very thing that threatened to destroy me, is what made me the most beautiful. I know that may sound like a cheesy cliché’, but my refusal to stay in a state of brokenness taught me the most valuable lesson - Hurting is optional, but healing is mandatory. I tell this story, not for the pity or “the woe is me,” but as a reminder that not everything that we encounter is solely for us. Sometimes, our brokenness can serve as a beautiful light in someone else’s dark place.

The "My Brokenness Is Beautiful" Campaign
In July 2019 I participated in the Dear World storytelling Initiative at an industry conference. The My Brokenness Is Beautiful message gave me an avenue to tell my story with four words. There is power in our stories. They have the potential to promote healing and freedom. It allows people to relate based on life experience.
Instead of looking at life's hardships as scars, embrace them as part of your genetic makeup. With some coaching you can learn to wear them as beauty marks. What's ugly about experiences that have made you stronger, wiser, faith believing, and dependent on God to be all that he says he is? It's all about perception, acceptance, and healing.
Remember all things meant for evil, God meant for good. Do you want to wear scars and look like what you have been through, or do you want to embrace it and let it fuel you to be all that God has called you to be? Your Brokenness is Beautiful! Let me coach you through it and teach you how to turn that brokenness into beauty. Let's ignite every passion within you to thrive against all odds.
